A PRACTICAL EDITING GUIDE

Use a seamless pattern

A repeat tile and a large background image solve different jobs. Keep the tile editable and verify its edges before using it.

Source, edit and export workflow

The tile is small. The possibilities repeat.

1. Start with the actual tile.

Download a marked Pattern House Studio SVG sample. Its 320 × 320 viewBox defines one repeat unit. A wide repeat preview shows the result but is not a substitute for the original tile.

2. Inspect opposite edges.

A motif that crosses the left edge must continue at the right edge; the same applies top to bottom. View a 3 × 3 repeat to find seams. Changing the artwork at an edge can break the repeat.

3. Choose scale for the context.

In Design studio, Tile size changes the real repeated composition. Smaller tiles show more repeats; larger tiles make the motif more prominent. Export width controls output pixels independently.

4. Choose a background deliberately.

Transparent output removes the pattern paper role while preserving colored motifs. Warm paper or dark ink supplies a canvas. Check the actual exported SVG or PNG, especially when placed over another color.

5. Use the right deliverable.

Keep an SVG composition for scalable artwork. Use the original tile with CSS background-repeat when building a web pattern. Use PNG at sufficient resolution when the destination cannot preserve SVG. Follow the license for finished work and avoid redistributing the source as a stock pack.
